Boss Seals
Advancements in aerospace performance have resulted in increased engine temperatures for longer distances at higher altitudes. These factors demand hydraulic systems that are more reliable while operating at higher pressures. Leakage and loss of pressure caused by the degradation of elastomeric or polymer based seals are a problem and the primary reason for failure in hydraulic systems.
Application:
The AmeriSeal™ Boss Seal is designed to handle high pressures and temperatures for long service cycles.
AmeriSeal™ Boss Seals Material Types:
Boss seals are produced from high temperature super alloys. A soft plating on the seal is highly recommended to eliminate galling and fretting between the seal and metallic mating components. Silver plating is commonly recommended, but other coatings are available.
