CNC Toolmaker (Orange, CT):

Job Description:
A CNC Toolmaker will produce precision tools, such as dies and molds, which are used by manufacturing to make a range of products. You would work mainly with metals, alloys, and composite materials.
Job Responsibilities:

Working with 2D and 3D computer aided design and manufacturing software (CAD/CAM)

Marking out the tool design on the 'stock' or casting following engineering drawings
-
Cutting and shaping the part using a combination of lathes, presses, grinders and cutting machines, which are frequently computer controlled.

Checking the tool's dimensions with precision measuring instruments like micrometers, gauges and co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM)

Carrying out basic machine maintenance.
Job Qualifications:
-
A minimum of 5 years experience.
-
Must be able to read, follow and understand blueprints.
-
Must have ability to set-up, program and operate DPMs.
-
Capable of bending down and standing for long periods as required.

Able to lift a minimum 50 lbs. safely.

Able to or capable of learning how to operate proto trak VL or SLX Lathes, along with manual Hardinge tool room lathes and chucker.

Able to operate or capable of learning to operate surface grinders.
CNC Machinist (Orange, CT):

Job Description:
The CNC machinist operates computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts. The CNC machinist loads parts in the machine, cycles the machine and detects malfunctions in the machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.
Job Responsibilities:

Performs all assigned machine shop operations.

Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.

Regularly performs milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing and sanding tasks.

Performs inspection of machined products, and documents results.
-
Completes and maintains paperwork for parts.

Assists in other work areas to perform fabrication, lay-up, infiltration, furnace operation and sand blasting tasks.
Job Qualifications:
Understanding software and programming languages is a requirement for CNC machinists. They must also be able to follow job instructions, comprehend specifications, and determine correct machine setup to achieve the correct final product. This requires reading and understanding blueprints that detail fabrication tolerances. Machinists must be able to evaluate product quality and make programming adjustments as needed for quality products. CNC machine types and setup requirements vary from business to business. However, machinists must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to grasp the various machine nuances.
